Privacy Policy

Couch Potato Screen Lock is built to help you improve screen time habits. We design for privacy and keep your data on your device whenever possible.

Summary

  • No account is required to use the app.
  • Step counts, block lists, and habit stats are stored locally on your device.
  • In-app purchases are handled by Apple and managed via RevenueCat.
  • We use AppsFlyer to measure app installs and ad performance, and may share install and purchase events with advertising partners such as TikTok. You can decline this tracking when iOS asks (App Tracking Transparency).

Information We Collect

The app uses on-device data to function:

  • Step data used to verify movement and unlock sessions.
  • Blocked app selections and lock schedules you configure.
  • Habit stats such as streaks, unlock counts, and achievements.

This on-device data is not transmitted to us. We do not collect contact lists, photos, or precise location.

For measurement and advertising, the app and our partners also collect:

  • Device identifiers — the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when iOS prompts you, and the vendor identifier (IDFV).
  • App install, app open, and subscription/purchase events (amount, currency, product).
  • Basic device and country information used to attribute installs to ad campaigns.

How We Use Information

  • To lock and unlock the apps you select.
  • To show progress, streaks, and achievements.
  • To send optional reminders if you enable notifications.

Permissions

  • Screen Time access to apply app restrictions.
  • Motion access to count steps.
  • Notifications for lock reminders and daily check-ins (optional).

Data Storage and Retention

Your data is stored locally on your device using iOS storage systems. You can delete the app to remove local data. Some settings may persist through iCloud backups if enabled on your device.

Website Analytics

Our website (couchpotatoscreenlock.com) uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies — small text files stored on your browser — to help us understand how visitors use the site.

Information collected by Google Analytics includes:

  • Pages visited, time spent on each page, and navigation path.
  • Approximate geographic location (city/country level, not precise).
  • Device type, browser, operating system, and screen resolution.
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the site).

This data is aggregated and anonymous — we cannot identify individual visitors. Google Analytics data is processed by Google under their own privacy policy.

In-App Analytics and Advertising

Inside the iOS app we use third-party services to measure performance and the effectiveness of our advertising:

  • AppsFlyer — mobile attribution and analytics. It collects device identifiers (IDFA with your consent, IDFV), install and in-app events, and basic device/country data to attribute installs and measure ad campaigns.
  • RevenueCat — processes and validates subscription purchases.
  • Advertising partners such as TikTok — we send install and purchase conversion events (via AppsFlyer) so we can measure and optimize the ads that bring people to the app.

On first launch the app asks permission to track using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, no IDFA is used and measurement relies on Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork instead. Each service processes data under its own privacy policy (AppsFlyer, RevenueCat, TikTok).

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by disabling cookies in your browser settings.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share limited measurement data — device identifiers and install/purchase events — with the analytics and advertising partners described above (AppsFlyer, RevenueCat, and advertising networks such as TikTok) solely to measure installs and the performance of our ads. You can limit this by declining tracking when iOS prompts you. In-app purchases are processed by Apple, and Apple may collect purchase-related information as part of the App Store. Website analytics data is processed by Google as described above.

Children's Privacy

Couch Potato Screen Lock is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Choices

  • Disable notifications in iOS Settings at any time.
  • Revoke Screen Time access to remove all restrictions.
  • Delete the app to remove local data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and provide notice in the app or on this page.
